Sweating Problems

I went to my first stake dance last night and I danced with a lot of guys. I realized that my hands were sweating every single time! How can I prevent that?

Ichthyosis is a form of severe dry skin that causes affected areas to look like fish scales. Ichthyosis vulgaris is an inherited form of ichthyosis. It is the most common form of ichthyosis, affecting around 1 in 250 people. In most cases one parent is affected and each child has a 50-50 chance of developing the condition. Ichthyosis occurs worldwide and affects people of all races.  Inherited forms of ichthyosis occur as a result of a genetic mutation. The mutated gene is passed on from one generation to the next. It is usually most severe over the legs but may also involve the arms, hands, and trunk.

Affected persons may also appear lots of fine lines over the palm of the hand. The condition is frequently more noticeable in the winter. It may be related with atopic dermatitis, keratosis pilaris (small bumps on the back of the arms), or other skin disorders. Signs and symptoms of ichthyosis vulgaris usually become apparent within the first year of life.  The other main forms of inherited ichthyosis include lamellar ichthyosis, epidermolytic hyperkeratosis, and X-linked ichthyosis. Paradoxically, those at risk of “prickly itch” should seek rather than avoid hot and humid climate.

Living year-round in a tropical weather would facilitate sweating; sweating would in turn ease the clearing of the scales and keep the condition leading to “prickly itch” at bay. There’s no known cure for ichthyosis, so the goal of treatment is to manage the condition. Topical retinoids are helpful for some patients. Side effects from the medication may include eye and lip inflammation, bone spurs and hair loss, as well as birth defects if taken during pregnancy. In addition to home care, treatment can include prescription creams and ointments that contain alpha hydroxy acids, such as lactic acid and glycolic acid.

Alpha-hydroxy acids (eg, lactic, glycolic, or pyruvic acids) are helpful for hydrating the skin. They toil by causing disaggregation of corneocytes in the inferior levels of the newly forming stratum corneum. Several skin care tips may also useful this condition. Apply lotions and creams to wet skin to trap in the moisture. Rub gently a pumice stone on wet skin to help remove thickened crusty skin. Brush washed hair to remove scales from scalp Lanolin creams and products containing urea, lactic acid and other alpha hydroxy acids may help to exfoliate and moisturizes skin.

My barn floor is sweating really bad – how can I prevent this or make it stop? At least help it and bring it down?

What is it sweating from? Humidity, place a fan on one end and a humidifier on other. or in nice weather open doors and windows if there is any.

Apart from deodorant and getting my kit off can I do to prevent excess sweating. I have moved abroad and it is very hot and I sweat a lot and doesn’t look very nice. Can anyone help with advice please ?

I am kinda embarassed by the way my feet smelll when they sweat. My boyfriend and I joke about it all the time, but now I am a little self-concious about it. It doesn’t matter if I wear open or closed toes shoes I still have the same problem. My feet sweat and then I may have an odor from the sweating. What should I do?

im 15 years old and i have a big sweating problem. the sweat shows through my shirt and its really embarrasing. i prefer roll on because i shave my underarms and solid shows up. what should i buy?

I’ll sweat a lot, especially under the stage lights, plus im wearing a very warm costume (corset, leather coat). In addition to this, i have to tape the microphone headset to my face, but I know from past experience that it wont stay in place if I sweat. How can I stop myself from sweating so much?

On your face, you might try a small amount of colorless antiperspirant before you go into makeup. You do not want to put the stuff all over your body because you need to sweat when you are very hot, especially if you are on stage for a very long time. As for the microphone, you might try putting it in your hair. It gets a very good sound because the head is very resonant. Many professionals wear the mic right on top of their head, pinned into the hair.

When you get a break and get to go behind the curtains, be sure to drink plenty of room temp water. Cold water can damage your voice and strain it. Also have a towel ready to towel yourself off when you get a moment backstage. Chest, back, underarms, wherever you need it. If you must dry your face, only pat it, because you don’t want to spoil your makeup.

I work as a stagehand with the IATSE and I also have experience acting. Everyone gets really soaked with sweat. Especially the dancers. It is normal, and it is not noticable to the audience unless the costume is a color that really changes color when wet, like some of the medium or lighter blues. If you have a costume like that, have a word with wardrobe, and maybe they can get something in a different color that will be less obvious.

The prom is tomorrow and my tux is going to be hot. I’m worried about sweating (mostly in my lower back area) and seeping through the tux and looking like a fool.
